Sunday 11th June 2023 - Colorado (Slight Risk)

We started today in Pueblo and SPC went with a 2% Tornado risk, HRRR had been like a dog with a bone about a single Supercell initiating near Trinidad and finishing around Guymon. This would mean 1 single road from Trinidad to Kim and Campo then onto Boise City and Guymon shared by the worlds chase community which will be no easy feat. After a lunch in Trinidad we got onto the Storm of the day and waited around 30 miles to the east for this to roll off the Rockies. The Supercell looked really nice with some very large hail and a nice hook on radar, when it passed us it was already going outflow dominant so we re-positioned again further east towards Campo. The chances of a Tornado were rapidly diminishing as time went by so this was going to turn into a structure chase. After a quick bite to eat at Boise City the structure ramped up a bit and we got some nice pictures. Having already booked a hotel at Guymon earlier in the day we continued on and got back in front of the storm and then let the Lightning pass over the hotel in the early hours. I think this day underperformed with what parameters we had on offer today but the outlook was starting to look up for the end of the week with much better moisture becoming established.
