Wednesday 31st May 2023 - New Mexico (Slight Risk)

We started today with overnight news that the risk zone had moved a lot further south and west so a mammoth drive was in order to get to the target area, 350 miles even before we were in target and once we arrived storms had already partly grown upscale around the Roswell to Clovis to Tucumcari area. We came in from the North and got onto a semi decent low topped Supercell which showed signs of rotating before that too got munched by the advancing line from the south. We thought at this stage that it was going to be an early finish but after a quick comfort break near Elida a lone LP Supercell had erupted just north of Roswell around 7pm with the earlier line now way into the Texas Panhandle. We headed further South West to sit around 15 miles to the East of this Storm and the structure that awaited us was beautiful, not only that but it was one of those rare LP Storms at sunset that was spitting out huge Anvil bolts to the ground from 55,000 feet above our heads with no Precip spoiling our view. This was a photographers dream situation and everybody got some beautiful pictures. A really nice bonus to end the day.
