Friday 26th May 2023 - New Mexico (Slight Risk)

We started today in Clovis and the SPC outlined a 2% Tornado Risk and Slight Risk across New Mexico. Once again the same pattern of Dryline and decent moisture would fire off a few Supercells from the Sangre De Cristos Mountains and roll them east back towards the NM & TX Border areas. We headed to Roswell for some lunch and watched Cumulus deepen throughout the day. One storm really caught our eyes west of Clovis and we made our way to sit just south east of this slow moving storm and tracked it east with what seemed the whole chase community. Decent rotation was noted for hours but something just was missing with this storm to actually put down a decent Tornado. And just as sunset came and diurnal heating was just about killing the storm off it finally produced a weak landspout Tornado to the NE of Clovis which we documented along with a few other chase groups. We then made our way through other storms and flooded roads to Amarillo where we ended our chase day.
