Monday 8th May 2023 - Missouri (Marginal Risk)

After our Bonus chase led us across to Iowa where we shot some Lightning the night before we had a Marginal Risk of Severe Storms before a bigger day in Kansas tomorrow. SPC went with a less than 2% Area and only 5% for Wind and Hail so we were not expecting much and this was just a travel day for the bigger risk tomorrow and if anything popped up then that would be a bonus. After lunch in Kansas City we headed south towards Joplin and storms popped up along the route. As expected most were non severe but at around 6pm one of them gained a Severe Thunderstorm warning and started to take on some decent structure, we tracked this storm south towards our overnight position and was pleasantly surprised to see some lovely lightning and even Hail Fog after a core had dumped to our west. Some really photogenic skies today and much more than I had even hoped for.

Some Pictures below of the Lightning and decent structure.
