Tuesday 2nd May 2023 - West Texas (Slight Risk)

Our 2nd Test chase of the Season took us out to the Texas Panhandle and a Slight Risk of Storms in the Permian Basin and the New Mexico & Texas Border. Large Hail would be the primary threat today with a small 2% Tornado Risk over the area as well. Storms took their time to get going today and we watched for hours a storm struggle and split a few times. More Storms were heading Straight North from the I-20 area and this seemed to kick our storm into action as the whole complex merged starting to grow upscale. We positioned towards Seminole with 3 storms now all merging, some large sized Hail reports started to come in around this time although we once again only sampled Quarters as the core from the pictured storm impacted us just west of Seminole. It did Jack knife a lorry as well from the 60mpg straight line winds. We finished the day in Andrews (Texas) ready for the Marginal Risk the next day.
