Wednesday 03rd May 2023 - Texas Panhandle (Marg Risk)

We started this day at the bottom of the Texas Panhandle and finished with an Over-Performing Supercell at the Top of the Texas Panhandle. SPC issued a Marginal Risk for Severe Storms and what transpired was a stunning HP Supercell North of Dumas between 7-9pm. The day started off slowly as we watched a Single cell storm near Boise City and this started to drift South East into the Texas Panhandle, there must have been a pocket of higher moisture as at around 7pm the Storm took off and started to get Supercell structure. More Storms erupted and crashed into the dominant Storm which was now a big HP Supercell. We took the Scenic Road from Perryton towards Canadian stopping a few times to snap pictures. We ended the day in Canadian but only after I had a close encounter with a large Western Diamondback Rattlesnake which was a very unnerving to say the least. An over performing day in every aspect.
