Tuesday 6th June 2023 - New Mexico (Slight Risk)
After some non severe storms around the Amarillo area on Monday it was off nice and early along the scenic route from Mosquero up to Wagon Mound where some Supercells were expected to roll off the Mountains and move SE towards the NM/TX Border area later in the day, there would also be an uptick in Storms due to the LLJ strengthening in the overnight period so chasing day and night was on offer for today. We got to Wagon Mound to watch a storm sit on the mountains for hours on end, moving south down the range at 5mph and Flash Flood warnings aplenty, these storms just did not want to leave the mountains. We headed further south towards Las Vegas and took the SE road to Santa Rosa and watched an interesting lowering which must have briefly touched down from our viewpoint, there is no report for this Tornado on this day but then again nobody apart from Mountain Goats would have been affected anyway. After a quick bite to eat in Santa Rosa we continued on with a developing area of storms behind us gathering pace, the fun was really about to start though at our hotel as not once but twice the power went out due to close Cg strikes and the guys got some amazing lightning pictures, a really enjoyable chase today in New Mexico.
