Sunday 4th June 2023 - Tx Panhandle (Marginal Risk)

We started today in Andrews with another Marginal Risk for storms which would mostly be non severe from the Lubbock to Amarillo area. With Storms initiating early it was a quick Starbucks Coffee grab and chase almost instantly with storms forming in an arc from Amarillo to Plainview. A few of these caught us off guard and gained some Tornado warnings for Landspout Tornadoes and a couple were reported around the Panhandle area NE of Amarillo. The best we could muster was a cell merger north of Tulia near the town of Happy (Tx) where an interesting low wall cloud that had weak rotation was noted, precipitation was absent from the core of the storm denoting weak rotation but it could never get a weak touchdown to happen. After this all storms congealed and moved off south and east so we had an early night at the Big Texan Steakhouse. On route there a rogue storm went up and flooded areas in Amarillo briefly as well. This El Nino Pattern has now delivered over 25 Inches of rain to the Southern High Plains in the past 4 weeks and the drought really has been eradicated now.
