Friday 19th May 2023 - New Mexico (Slight Risk)
After picking up Tour 2 in Denver on the 18th we headed straight down to the West Texas and SE New Mexico Border for a 2% Tornado Risk and a Dryline Set Up. Storms would form in the Mountains behind Roswell today and head South and East towards the Pecos River Valley. We targeted a nice Supercell which was not much to look at structure wise early in its life cycle but after becoming discrete and making a run more south than East to the South of Hobbs we had a pretty decent Supercell on our hands. It briefly became Tornado warned just before sunset and we witnessed very weak mid level rotation. Just before sunset the structure really started to take shape though and 40mph sustained inflow winds made it hard to stand up at times. A great first chase day for the guests and we ended the day in Lubbock ready for the next few days which looked great in the same general area. These MCS Rains are also really starting to help eradicate the drought in this area.
