Monday 22nd May 2023 - Tx Panhandle (Enhanced Risk)

Finally the weather outlook was starting to look up with 3 Days of Risks being outlined by the SPC. Starting today with an Enhanced Risk in the Texas Panhandle and a 5% Tornado Risk. Moisture again was the only issue for Spinning water vapour but Intense Splitting Supercells with mainly Straight Hodographs were being promoted. My Target was just east of Amarillo to start and Dryline Supercells started to erupt around 3pm CDT. Our first look at a nice Classic Supercell was near Clarendon but this storm soon got interfered with from another Supercell that had split down near Tulia. It did briefly have a nice rain free base and wall cloud but we aborted this storm pretty quickly when rain from the left split to its south cut off its moisture feed. We then stair stepped down the line and got onto a nice Supercell East of Plainview that was spitting out some stunning lightning and flooding rains from its HP Nature. This storm was Tornado warned for quite some time but could never really get anything to drop. We double backed upto Lubbock through flooded and closed roads to end the day. A much better day and an even better one looking likely in much the same place tomorrow with an Outflow Boundary being talked about on the Day 2 Outlook.
